In its first annual Wake event, Rip Curl's Grom Search format was applied to the water. Guest Judge Daniel Watkins joined Scott Duke and Drew Hawkshaw from Rip Curl Canada to crown the first ever Grom Search Wake winner. Jordan Long and Christian Primose battled it out with XCUP Veteran Jordan taking the title. Congrats to everyone who participated. Riding the rough waters of Collingwood Harbour, our extended Miltia family showed up in force on the weekend. 9 Competitors from our camps, schools and Militia team competed this past weekend in Collingwood. Top dogs include Cabana West's Andrew McIver taking the Intermediate title, Dary Znebel Advancing to Pro Mens Wakeboard, and potential Militia Rider of the year Dan Brown continued his rise with a 4th place finish in Pro Wakeskate.

Gas Prices Unlikely to Impact Boat Usage

WASHINGTON – After an average price per gallon last
summer of $3.81 – and a peak above $4.00 – this summer’s projected
average regular-grade gasoline price of $2.23 per gallon is welcome
news.
This prediction – made by the Energy Information Administration on
Tuesday – encompasses the April through September months, according
to an article today in USA Today. The group expects the monthly average
to peak at $2.30 a gallon, the newspaper reported.
“With gas prices low, we expect very heavy use of boats this summer,”
said Thom Dammrich, president of the National Marine Manufacturers
Association, in an e-mail interview today. “Boating is extremely affordable
at this level of gas prices and we expect boater’s passion for the
water to get them out as much as ever!”

seasons, riding at a pro level behind his tin boat. Muskoka Militia

Team riders Buck McAulay, Christopher Guard, Mark Enns, Gaston Gagnon and Jesse Page join the management for the first official international team trip next week. The trip will be an SBC Wakeboard Feature article and footage for the new movie Colour will start in the real Dirty South. Militia has just inked a deal to set up a new Wakeboard camp on a secret spot just off the Pacific Ocean. Keep tuned for details......
